I have to admit that until I got in the right frame of mind to start eating right and losing weight, those healthy weight loss tips I used to read in women’s magazines would get me so frustrated. The advice consisted of telling me to eat less and move more and that I would lose weight. Somehow, that advice never seemed to work for me because I love to eat!

So when I heard about The 4 Day Win’s unique approach to weight loss, I had to find out what it was all about.

“The Four Day Win” is written by Martha Beck. PhD. You might recognize her name from the Oprah show. She’s a life coach with credentials for helping people live better lives.

In her book, she says that traditional dieting relies on your ability to go numb and ignore physical and emotional feelings. When we overeat, we are actually trying to calm ourselves down the way that we’ve trained our brains to do. Beck’s book and program is a guide to reversing the brain-body programming that makes you fat. The title of the book, “4 Day Win” refers to the brain’s ability to make a small positive behavior change become a habit after 4 days.

It’s been proven that if you do something for 4 days, your brain decides it’s the norm and continues to want to do that activity. You’ve got to get your brain and your body on the same side doing the same thing and agreeing to work on the same goals.

Don’t think that you can eat anything you want or not exercise on this program. The principles for losing weight are still the same. You do need to eat less and move more. What changes is that you train your brain to want to do the good behavior. Then the weight loss will follow automatically.
