Fad Diet Benefits
What is a fad diet and can it ever work to help you lose weight? Most people want to get rid of their excessive pounds as fast as possible and so they are tempted to try a fad diet which is usually not based on healthy nutritional guidelines. Many times they give it a try and then either lose the weight only to gain it right back or fail miserably.
The weight loss industry is so big and competitive that it tries to take advantage of people’s desire for quick weight loss with crazy diet fads that don’t work.
Fad diets often promise instant weight loss that’s short term, not balanced at all and isn’t designed for obtaining a sustainable weight loss.
Also known as a “crash” diet, it can help you by getting you started on a weight loss program. It might be the “quick start” you need in order to get started on the weight loss mind set.
If you only use fad diets as a way to get started, like a catapult for changing your eating and exercise habits permanently, it shouldn’t do you any harm. If you decide to start a fad diet or any diet program for that matter, always consult your physician first.
Try to limit the period of fad dieting to maximum 7 days at a time. Most of these fad diets are not meant to be kept for longer periods of time. Non balanced diets will not supply you with the nutrition your body needs to function normally.
When the fad diet is over, don’t binge on unhealthy “junk” foods. Celebrate the end of your diet but not with food.
You may find that most of your weight loss on this program comes from a loss of water weight. But a quick weight loss can inspire you to eat healthy foods and follow a sustainable plan that will help you keep the weight off that you’ve lost. It can also help you continue to get rid of those pounds by watching what and how much you are eating.
