Herbs for Weight Loss

Many people use herbs for weight loss because they actually work for some people!  Some of the best weight loss supplements include garcinia cambogia, green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, and one you may not have heard of called Guggul.

I know, weird name for an herb. I discovered it quite by accident when I tried the Metabolic Nutrition Center diet. Guggul comes from the resin of a tree found in India and it’s been used in Ayurvedic medicine for years as a way to lower cholesterol and inflammation.

But it’s also been shown to help fight obesity because of it’s effect on the metabolism. It assists the thyroid to function properly and increases fat burning activity in your body.

You might be skeptical of whether herbs are really effective or just a waste of money. I can understand that because there are so many scams out there. But recently I was watching a local TV show featuring a panel of doctors  who were stressing the importance of letting your doctors know what types of herbal medications you are using because the effectiveness of your prescription medications can be altered if you are taking herbs at the same time.

I’ve been using Guggul for a few weeks now and I can tell you that I am finding it to be a very good appetite suppressant. It’s pretty affordable so I would see no harm in trying it out for yourself as long as you don’t have any serious medical issues. Always check with your doctor before adding any herbal medicines to your health regimen.
