Eat For Permanent Weight Loss
There are fundamental facts that you need to know, understand and apply if you want to lose weight. For example, high blood sugar will cause an excessive level of insulin in your body which will result in fat gain for these reasons:
- Some of the food that you have eaten will be stored as fat in your body
- It prevents your body from using stored fat as energy
Blood sugar control is the center piece of a fat burning diet, weight management and permanent weight loss.
Regulating Your Blood Sugar Level
What causes blood sugar levels to rise and trigger an increase of insulin levels?
- Missing a meal or going too long between meals
- Eating too many simple sugars
- Eating too much per meal
- Double carbohydrate intake in one serving
Too Long Between Meals Or Skipped Meals
If you don’t eat for 3 or more hours, this will cause your blood sugar level to drop below normal. The next time you eat, your blood sugar level will rise sharply in reaction which causes a rise in the insulin level in your body.
Eating Foods With Sugar
Eating foods with more than 10 grams of sugar per serving will increase your blood sugar level sharply, resulting in excess insulin production and secretion into your blood.
If you’re going to eat something sweet, limit your intake of desserts to 2-3 times a week and do not have a desert the day following a day you had a dessert.
Stuffing Yourself At A Meal
Your food is broken down by your liver three major nutrients: Carbohydrates to glycogen; Protein to amino acids; and fats to fats.
If you eat too much during a meal, your liver doesn’t perform like it should. Your blood will contain a higher level of fats and sugars that were produced by your liver.
When this happens, your blood sugar level elevates, as does your body’s blood insulin level. Your body is prevented from using fat for energy. No fat burning = no weight loss.
Double Carbohydrate Intake in One Meal
Your liver breaks down carbohydrates into glycogen. If you eat 2 or more starchy carbohydrates during the same meal, your body will produce too much glucose and as a result, your blood sugar level, and your insulin level, will rise. Your body won’t be able to use its fat stores and you will not lose weight.
Starchy carbohydrates are potato, pasta, rice, bread, pizza, dough, cake, and pastries.
