Jenny Craig Weight Loss after One Week

I had my first weigh in yesterday after my first week on Jenny Craig. I lost 4.2 pounds! Yippee! And I  had an epiphany about losing weight this way versus doing it myself.

Usually, at this point in any of the myriad diets I have tried in the past (Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, Metabolic Research Center, etc) – basically, any diet where I was deprived of a particular type of food – I was looking for a way to cheat. Some way to “beat the system” and yet, still lose the weight. Kind of prove the diet-makers wrong; that you can still lose weight when you eat stuff like chocolate cake, pasta, pancakes.

If only I had started Jenny Craig from the beginning, I would have realized this a  lot sooner. And I also would have lost weight!

What I’ve found from being on this weight loss program is that there is no need to cheat on Jenny Craig because you are already getting to eat the things you want to eat only in smaller portions. And you are satisfied when you are done, not hungry, because you always have to add in the vegetables and fruit to each meal.

It’s exactly what your mom always tried to tell you: “You’ve got to eat your vegetables”. Because if you do, you’ll be too full to eat any more than what is available on your plate. When I eat my “Jenny meal”, I put it on a small plate along with the vegetables or salad that I add in and I just can’t eat more than that. No more second helpings because I don’t need them. I’m full.

This gives me confidence for when I stop eating the Jenny Craig food and start eating my own creations. As long as I eat a balanced meal with plenty of vegetables, fruit and small portions of the most fattening parts of the meal, I can keep the weight off.

I have to admit that sometimes I don’t feel like eating pasta when Jenny tells me to eat pasta. But this way of eating is only temporary until I lose the weight and train myself to eat correctly. And then I hope I will never have to diet again!
