It's vital that you learn how to manage all the parts of your life so that you are getting the right foods, adequate rest, and exercise.

For me, healthy living started when I was pregnant with my first child at the age of 29. Ironically, it was a case of gestational diabetes that caused me to go on a diet for the remainder of my pregnancy. I had to practice good eating habits to protect my baby's health. But after I gave birth, I went back to my old ways and started an unrelenting battle to control my weight.

How Can I Start Living Healthy?

Start practicing some of these tips for physical health in your daily life...

    Make a date with yourself to exercise at least 3 days for 30 minutes each session. Build your stamina and endurance gradually. If you want to lose weight and not just maintain, gradually move up to 5 days a week and increase the length of time for each session.

    Gradually make changes in your diet. If you don't eat breakfast, start! If time is an issue, wake up 5 minutes earlier...it's that easy.Once you've established a healthy breakfast routine, move on to lunch and then dinner.

    Incorporate the USDA food pyramid into your day. You don't have to make big changes all at once...your mind and body needs time to adjust to the change. Start with just one meal a day.

    Establish the habit of taking a quality vitamin and herbal supplement. Our food doesn't always provide all the nutrients we need. Vitamin supplements fill in the gaps that our food doesn't cover.


Healthy Way to Lose Weight

First you have to decide if you want to lose weight or just feel better. If you improve your physical health by eating right and exercising regularly, you may find that losing weight just happens naturally.

Keep in mind that 1-2 pounds of weight loss a week is what you should aim for, otherwise you are just losing water weight and in drastic cases, you are losing muscle.
