Fit people already know there are things you can do to avoid holiday weight gain. For me. the holiday season is my last chance to eat all the good stuff until the diet kicks in January 1st. It’s rare for me to make a commitment to maintain my weight and I’ve never been able to lose weight during the holidays.
But this year, I’ve decided to try and avoid holiday weight gain by following these tips
First, I’ve made a plan for the parties. I know that I am probably going to indulge in my favorites at some point in the holidays. But I’ve decided I can still enjoy the goodies without completely blowing it. I’ve chosen one or two events where I am going to be more flexible with my diet. I’ve made a commitment that those times are the only times I’m going to “cheat”. Once the event is over, I’m going right back to my healthy diet. My metabolism should be able to weather those occasional indulgences pretty well.
Second, I’ve committed to my exercise plan no matter what. Even if I do eat something I shouldn’t eat, the exercise should burn up the extra calories so that I am at least maintaining my weight.
Third, I’m going to remember that it’s only food. It tastes good for a moment but then it’s gone. Meanwhile, the after-effects of bloating and weight gain stay with you. A little taste is good and really all that I need so that I don’t feel deprived. I’m going to keep a level head and not get carried away with how good it tastes.

I don’t usually post to someone’s blog however I am interested in your post so I felt forced to do so. Veering off the topic somewhat, what are your thoughts concerning walking? Which is these days being put forward as the best exercise to burn fat.
I think walking is a great way to burn fat but I’ve found that you should concentrate first on what you’re eating and then start physical activity to burn fat. I used to walk a lot when I weighed less but as I gained too much weight, I found that it was exhausting and counter-productive to my weight loss. Once I lost about 5 pounds by eating right, my stamina improved and I could walk longer distances and lose even more weight.
